Arizona Homemade Artisans
has grown out of our desire to share a re-creative approach
to Sonoran Desert living.
In our view, everything is- and should be- interconnected:
building (including sculpting, drawing, painting!), gardening, self-care,
wild-crafting, cooking, conserving, recycling and regenerating
our art-full relationship with place.
The art of "home-making" strengthens neighborhoods and nature,
nourishes us, and feeds a common hunger
for an authentic way of life.
We want to collaborate with individuals and organizations
to grow AHA into a useful bridge, inspiring and connecting
old, new and aspiring artisans around the region.
We recognize that although we are all here together working for
a better world now, the history of occupation and privilege has enabled
abuses of people and nature that continue to this day.
We want to help change the story, to work collaboratively for truth,
justice and reconciliation in our dynamic, diverse and remarkable
Sonoran Desert community.
Building on many years of desert foods and living demonstrations
at Thursday Santa Cruz River Markets for Community Food Bank,
and over thirty years raising families, gardens and green buildings,
friends and fellow teachers Jill Lorenzini and Barbara Rose
feel inspired to further this work in the larger community.
The Community Food Bank has engaged us
to present 23 demonstrations at 2020
Santa Cruz River Farmers Markets.
Follow-up workshops at the farm
enhance and reinforce our free
market presentations.
We'd like to grow these kinds of offerings and empower more homemade artisans
to share their passion and diverse skills, at the farm, market
and around southern Arizona.
We're inviting conversation with all organizations and individuals
who would serve their vision, mission and purpose by collaborating with AHA.
Please share your thoughts and interest with us!
